About the role#
This internship focuses on thermal design for the Optimus robotics program. You will work on-site in Palo Alto to support the development of thermal systems for electronic components. This is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks.
What you'll do#
- Build CFD models to analyze heat transfer and fluid flow.
- Develop methods to improve radiative heat transfer within small modules.
- Run tolerance analysis, finite element analysis, and simulations.
- Test and validate electronic systems across low voltage electronics.
- Assist manufacturing lines and test engineers to identify issues and create production solutions.
- Prepare documentation and presentations to share your designs and findings.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related thermal field.
- Graduation date between May 2027 and December 2027.
- Understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
- Experience with CFD and developing numerical models for thermal or fluid systems.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical or thermal testing and data analysis.
- Ability to solve problems creatively and an interest in electro-mechanical product design.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

- Compensation: $20.00 - $55.00 per hour plus benefits.
