About the role#
This internship focuses on cell materials engineering within the R&D team. You will work on projects related to electrode fabrication, battery material characterization, and cell performance optimization. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Louisville, Colorado, running through the Winter and Spring 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support the R&D team by fabricating small scale electrode coatings.
- Develop cell test plans to characterize performance, lifetime behavior, and reliability.
- Identify critical failures and degradation modes in battery materials.
- Plan test resources and track progress throughout the testing cycle.
- Analyze and report testing results to the team.
- Document observations and present findings to a technical audience.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering field.
- Knowledge of lithium-ion battery technology and electrochemistry.
- Familiarity with battery degradation mechanisms.
- Experience with electrochemical and mechanical evaluation techniques using tools like Arbin, Maccor, or Biologic.
- Proficiency in data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or Simulink.
- A first-principal physics understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, energy storage, and thermo-fluids engineering.

- Location: Louisville, Colorado.
- Term: Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site.
- Compensation: Paid internship.
