About the role#
The Materials Planner Intern joins the Kenworth division of PACCAR to gain hands-on experience in supply chain and logistics. You will work within a manufacturing environment to ensure material availability and manage supplier relationships. This is a full-time, paid summer 2027 internship located on-site in Kirkland, Washington.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, and suppliers to ensure materials arrive at plants on schedule.
- Monitor supplier quality, service, and delivery performance.
- Take ownership of planning and ordering duties for a specific set of SKUs, including issuing purchase orders to meet manufacturing schedules.
- Manage the identification and disposition of surplus and obsolete material, including weekly reporting and database updates.
- Review Engineering Change Notices and update planning databases to coordinate product changes.
- Lead conference calls with internal and external teams to resolve supply chain disruptions.
- Communicate and escalate issues to leadership, including Materials Planners, Commodity Managers, and Directors.
- Coordinate special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program focusing on Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, with junior or senior standing preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Professionalism and a resourceful approach to problem-solving.
- Experience with the Access database system is preferred.

- Compensation: $25 per hour for undergraduate students or $30 per hour for graduate students.
