About the role#
This paid, full-time summer internship offers undergraduate students hands-on experience in the natural gas industry. You will participate in rotations across multiple departments, including structured products, credit, deal capture, and accounting. This program helps you build a broad understanding of energy business operations and risk management. Successful interns may be eligible to apply for a post-graduation full-time rotational program.
What you'll do#
- Develop values and risks for proposed deals using spreadsheet-based scenario and simulation modeling.
- Participate in discussions with deal originators and traders regarding structured deals.
- Support daily credit operations by assisting with credit risk assessments and processing payments.
- Evaluate the financial health of counterparties and review credit exceptions.
- Identify, comprehend, and capture the risk of trades and structured deals into risk books.
- Monitor trading activities to ensure compliance with risk management policies.
- Review supplier invoices for accuracy in volume and pricing.
- Reconcile invoiced volumes against pipeline statements and match data to the general ledger.
- Contribute to the preparation of internal reports and regulatory filings.
- Provide support for inquiries related to deals and the Gas Management System (GMS).
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, economics, business intelligence, or engineering.
- Junior-level academic standing or equivalent progress toward your degree.
- Commitment to a career in the energy industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Prior internship or professional work experience in a business setting.
- Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well as a member of a team.
- One year of customer service experience is preferred.
- High personal standards for performance and integrity.
