About the role#
HMH is seeking an FP&A Intern to join our Finance team in Houston. This role provides hands-on experience with financial planning, analysis, and reporting. You will support key business decisions and gain insight into the operations of our organization over the course of a 12-week internship running from May 24 to August 13, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the preparation, review, and analysis of monthly financial reports, forecasts, and budgets.
- Support variance analysis by comparing actual results to budget and prior periods.
- Develop and maintain financial models for forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning.
- Analyze financial and operational metrics to suggest business improvements.
- Prepare presentations and deliverables to communicate findings to management.
- Support ad-hoc financial analysis and project work.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete projects and support business objectives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Graduate degree program, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented approach with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work with large data sets.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
- Financial acumen.
