About the role#
Teck Alaska Incorporated is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Shareholder Intern at Red Dog Operations. This role reports to the Mechanical Engineer and provides an opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world mining operations. You will work within a team that values safety and collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Support root cause analysis for equipment failures and suggest corrective actions.
- Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Participate in reliability improvement projects, such as equipment upgrades and process optimization.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, and maintenance documentation.
- Ensure all tasks comply with safety protocols and company standards.
- Collaborate with operations, reliability, and safety personnel.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Must be a NANA Regional Corporation Shareholder.
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Basic understanding of industrial mechanical systems and maintenance principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Proven work ethic, reliability, and willingness to take initiative.
- Coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials science, and machine design is preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Red Dog, Alaska.
- Schedule: This is a full-time, on-site, temporary position with a four-weeks on and two-weeks off rotational schedule.
- Travel: Paid fly-in, fly-out travel is provided.
