About the role#
This paid, part-time internship offers hands-on experience within the Legal and Compliance department. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support agency operations, perform research, and assist with special projects. This is a limited-term assignment for the Fall 2026 semester.
What you'll do#
- Assist with open records requests, third-party subpoenas, and discovery requests.
- Research and analyze data regarding benefit programs, contracts, procurement, ethics, and compliance.
- Draft memoranda, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Maintain paper and electronic files, including litigation tracking and records management.
- Help implement legislation passed by the Texas Legislature and rules adopted by the board of trustees.
- Review ethics compliance submissions and assist with general legal operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate (Junior or Senior), graduate student, or law student.
- Academic background in Political Science, Business Administration, History, or English.
- Ability to work 19 hours per week.
- Availability to work from the Austin office at least two days per week.

- Compensation: $19.50 per hour for undergraduates, $21.00 per hour for graduate students, and $28.00 per hour for law students.
