About the role#
The County of Berks is hiring a part-time Legal Intern for the Public Defender Department. This position involves research and writing support throughout all stages of legal representation. You will work on-site in Reading, PA, with a starting pay rate of $19.70 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Research legal issues and draft legal memoranda.
- Assist attorneys with data entry.
- Handle miscellaneous typing and general data entry tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current admission to an accredited law school.
- General knowledge of Pennsylvania criminal law.
- Familiarity with Westlaw or Lexis Nexis research platforms.
- Proficiency with Windows-based computer programs.
- Strong interpersonal, oratory, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage stress.
- Ability to maintain a physical presence in the office.
