About the role#
The Assessment Department at the County of Berks is looking for an intern to assist with property assessment records. You will review parcel change detection results and compare them against historical data to ensure accuracy. What you'll do#
- Review parcel change detection analysis results generated from imagery or geospatial tools.
- Compare identified changes with current and historical assessment records.
- Flag discrepancies or potential property updates for staff review.
- Document your findings and maintain organized tracking of the parcels you review.
- Assist with data verification and quality assurance tasks.
What you'll need#
- You are a current undergraduate or graduate student in GIS, Geography, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Real Estate, Data Science, or a related field.
- You hold a high school diploma or G.E.D. certification.
- You have completed at least 2 courses or have relevant experience in geospatial analysis, parcel mapping, or property data.
- You possess basic experience with spreadsheets or data analysis tools like Excel.
- Familiarity with GIS software such as ArcGIS or QGIS is preferred.
- You have strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship located in Mohnton, Pennsylvania.
- This position requires physical presence in the office.
- The work environment is a standard office setting.
- You must be able to perform physical tasks including sitting, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 40 pounds.
