About the role#
The Client Services Coordinator intern works within the Public Defender Office to support the legal team and management staff. You will handle administrative duties while gaining exposure to case investigation, witness interviewing, and evidence analysis. This role requires your physical presence in the office to assist with daily operations and client services.
What you'll do#
- Communicate with attorneys, staff, and clients regarding case investigations and mitigations.
- Maintain a calendar of significant dates and track statistics on clients aided.
- Prepare computer-generated forms and correspondence for client representation.
- Observe and assist with the preparation of client mitigation reports.
- Translate evidence from Spanish to English if you are bilingual.
- Operate office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, and paper shredders.
- Answer telephone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff members.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an undergraduate program at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuit of a degree in Political Science, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Languages, or a related field.
- Prior experience with database programs and word processing.
- Customer service experience involving direct contact with the public and professionals.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
- Knowledge of office procedures and multi-line telephone systems.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Successful completion of an employment background check.
