About the role#
This is a full-time internship for the Winter 2027 term. You will join the Finance Operations team to support general accounting and financial reporting functions. You will work alongside experienced professionals to help the bank make business decisions, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain the integrity of financial processes.
What you'll do#
- Gather manual and system data to prepare, review, and post journal entries.
- Prepare and review account reconciliations.
- Perform accounting functions such as cost accounting, tax and fixed asset accounting, and inter-segment allocations.
- Produce and prepare financial, regulatory, or management reports, including data gathering and validation.
- Support financial statement reporting, including MD&A and capital reporting.
- Analyze and investigate financial data to support stakeholder needs.
- Execute process controls and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
- Deliver quality service while meeting performance goals like SLAs and KPIs.
- Identify operational problems, escalate issues, and stay informed on regulatory requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program in Finance, Accounting, Analytics, Data, Business, Commerce, or a related field.
- Intent to return to school following the completion of the work term.
- Financial acumen paired with a focus on innovation and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools.
- Solid understanding of financial and accounting standards relevant to financial institutions.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess risk or challenge the status quo.
- Good communication skills to engage with colleagues and business partners.
- Ability to remain resilient under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team.
