About the role#
As an Applied Machine Learning Scientist Co-op with the AI2 team, you will contribute to data-driven projects within a banking environment. This 4-month internship provides exposure to real-world business challenges, allowing you to build technical skills while collaborating with experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Interpret data to produce insights and create relevant data visualization reports.
- Perform Python and SQL queries to support data sets for analysis and modelling.
- Clean data and perform feature engineering using established best practices.
- Analyze large, spatially enabled data sets to identify trends that inform business decisions.
- Support the development, testing, and deployment of machine learning models, including forecasting, optimization, and classification tasks.
- Proactively identify business problems and develop proposals for data-driven solutions.
- Collaborate with business partners to support the development of business cases.
- Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a recognized graduate degree program in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Intent to return to school at the start of your work term.
- Strong statistical and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, or other data-related programming languages.
- Experience with Object-Oriented Programming.
- Knowledge of spatially enabled data and geospatial processing tools.
- Familiarity with platforms and tools such as Azure, R, AWS, Databricks, or Github is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 4 to April 23, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid (four days in office per week).
- Employment: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
