About the role#
This internship supports field operations for natural gas transportation in the Appalachia region. You will work alongside experienced technicians to assist with the maintenance and operation of compression equipment. This role provides hands-on experience in a field environment while focusing on the safe delivery of energy.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of natural gas compressors.
- Learn and apply safety protocols during daily field work.
- Use field tools and equipment under the guidance of experienced staff.
- Participate in site visits, equipment inspections, and various project activities.
- Develop technical skills and problem-solving abilities relevant to field operations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Mechanical, Chemical, Pipeline, Automation, or related technical program.
- Completion of at least one academic term before May 2027.
- Commitment to return to full-time studies after the internship ends.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week from May 2027 through August 2027.
- Exposure to mechanical maintenance or field operations through coursework or projects.
- A strong safety mindset and the ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Successful completion of pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.

- Location: Smithfield, West Virginia.
- This is an on-site, full-time position.
