About the role#
We are looking for a student intern to support field operations for natural gas transportation. You will work with experienced technicians to help maintain and troubleshoot compression equipment. This role provides hands-on exposure to field projects, safety procedures, and operational tasks. You will apply your academic knowledge to real-world infrastructure while developing technical skills relevant to a field technician career.
What you'll do#
- Support field operations while following our core values of safety, accountability, teamwork, and active learning.
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of natural gas compressors and related equipment.
- Gain practical experience with field tools and operational procedures.
- Learn and apply safety protocols for all field work.
- Participate in site visits, equipment inspections, and project activities under supervision.
- Build technical and problem-solving skills.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Mechanical, Chemical, Pipeline, Automation, or related technical program.
- Completion of at least one academic term before May 2027.
- Commitment to return to full-time studies after the work term ends.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) from May 2027 through August 2027.
- Exposure to mechanical equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, or field operations through coursework or projects.
- Knowledge of natural gas compression systems or industrial equipment.
- A strong safety mindset in both professional and personal settings.
- Ability to analyze information, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to building professional relationships.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
Location & details#
- Location: West Union, West Virginia.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May to August).
- This is a paid, full-time position.
- This role is eligible for our student relocation assistance program.
