About the role#
This paid, full-time internship offers a hands-on training program designed to prepare you for a career in retail store leadership. Over the course of the summer, you will gain a realistic preview of the Executive Team Leader role by working closely with mentors and store managers. You will spend your time on the sales floor and in the backroom, learning how to motivate teams, drive sales results, and manage daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Lead a retail team within a Target store and foster a culture of inclusivity and safety.
- Work alongside an Executive Team Lead mentor to understand and execute department priorities.
- Plan daily goals and organize workflows to support business objectives.
- Drive guest experience by ensuring team members are knowledgeable and empowered to assist shoppers.
- Partner with store leaders to provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members.
- Review business reporting and guest insights to troubleshoot and improve performance.
- Participate in internship training activities and developmental opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program, with a focus on Business Administration, Marketing, or Operations Management.
- Strong interest in retail management and a desire to develop leadership skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- Previous retail experience is preferred but not required.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing ladders and lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds.
