About the role#
This is a hands-on, 40-hour per week internship designed to prepare you for a career in operations leadership. You will gain a realistic preview of the Operations Manager role by working directly within a Target supply chain facility. Throughout the summer, you will work alongside mentors and managers to lead daily operations, motivate team members, and drive business results. You will have the opportunity to lead a department and gain experience across inbound, outbound, and warehousing functions.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support daily operations by working directly with team members on the facility floor.
- Track key performance indicators including safety, teamwork, quality, and productivity.
- Conduct process improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies.
- Facilitate communication between IT and operations teams to resolve system issues.
- Perform safety walks to identify and resolve operational hazards.
- Lead daily team meetings and planning sessions to set goals and review shift performance.
- Provide coaching and feedback to team members regarding performance and safety standards.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management.
- Strong interest in retail and supply chain operations.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse teams.
- Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous learning.
- Physical ability to access all levels and areas of the facility to address operational needs.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
