About the role#
The Production Intern supports the SXSW Production Department during the Winter 2027 season. This role provides hands-on experience with large-scale event logistics, including audio-visual coordination, site operations, and stage management. You will work directly with artists, speakers, vendors, and venues to help bring the festival to life.
What you'll do#
- Advance and execute production for an assigned stage across the Music, EDU, or Comedy festivals.
- Collaborate with Production Managers to organize and review production materials from artists.
- Support the broader Production Team with various tasks across the SXSW Conference and Festivals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university or college.
- Residency in Texas.
- Knowledge of basic production technology or a strong interest in learning it.
- Ability to lift 20+ pounds occasionally.
- Strong organizational skills for managing digital assets, paperwork, and spreadsheets.
- Excellent communication skills for phone, email, and face-to-face interactions.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Austin, Texas, and requires on-site work.
- The term runs from January through March 2027.
- The schedule is a maximum of 16 hours per week, with a requirement of 40 hours per week during the event from March 13 to March 21, 2027.
- This is a paid internship at $12 per hour.
