About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern on the Security team, you will gain hands-on experience protecting products across the software lifecycle. You will work on both offensive and defensive security, including building tooling, writing proofs of concept, and identifying vulnerabilities. This is a learning role where you will build practical AppSec and DevSecOps skills while working alongside full-time developers.
What you'll do#
- Add security tooling and checks to CI/CD pipelines.
- Build and improve security automation using scripts, with a preference for Python.
- Use AI tools to assist with daily security tasks and advance internal AI infrastructure.
- Conduct offensive testing to find product vulnerabilities and build proofs of concept.
- Triage security findings and patch straightforward issues.
- Collaborate with product engineers, DevOps, and Fraud teams to integrate security into the development process.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Familiarity with the OWASP Top 10 and common vulnerability classes.
- Hands-on experience finding vulnerabilities through CTFs, labs, or coursework.
- Knowledge of web technologies and networking fundamentals, such as HTTP, REST APIs, TLS, and DNS.
- Solid programming fundamentals, with a preference for Python.
Location & details#
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 4 to April 30, 2027).
- Work Modality: Remote (candidates must maintain a minimum 6-hour overlap with Eastern Time).
- Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
- Allowances: Includes a $300 home office setup allowance, $25/week UberEats allowance, $300 learning and development allowance, and $120 fitness/wellness allowance per term.
