About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in fraud operations within a fintech and travel platform. You will join the Strategic Operations team to protect customers and the business by investigating risks and analyzing data. You will work with Fraud Analysts, Operations leaders, and partners in Payments, Product, and Customer Support to scale fraud prevention efforts.
What you'll do#
- Investigate customer accounts by synthesizing complex evidence to make case decisions.
- Mine transaction and behavioral datasets to identify fraud trends and risk vectors.
- Monitor fraud dashboards and real-time alerts to prevent financial losses.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to execute fraud and chargeback initiatives.
- Lead special projects to improve fraud playbooks, internal tools, and reporting frameworks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary degree program for Business, Finance, Economics, Criminology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets, including pivot tables and lookups.
- Strong preference for 1 to 2 years of professional or internship experience.
- Demonstrated aptitude for investigative work or data analysis.
- Ability to identify patterns and anomalies in complex datasets.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong sense of ownership.
- Bonus points for prior experience in risk management, payments, e-commerce, or fraud mitigation.
- Familiarity with SQL or BI tools is a plus.
Location & details#
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 4, 2027 to April 30, 2027).
- Modality: Remote, with a requirement to work 40 hours per week.
- Availability: Must maintain a minimum 6-hour overlap with Eastern Time.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
