About the role#
This internship provides students with the opportunity to apply academic studies to real-world operations. You will work on projects within the W&C and Rod Mill teams, contributing to strategic goals while receiving coaching and feedback. The program includes an assigned project to be completed and presented to leadership at the end of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Research and identify solutions to sustainability challenges and conduct cost-benefit analyses for potential initiatives.
- Collect data to monitor sustainability performance metrics and track progress toward environmental goals.
- Assist in the design and implementation of new or modified manufacturing equipment and systems.
- Perform time studies and capacity analyses to support production and process optimization.
- Update and create operations documentation, standard operating procedures, and process flow diagrams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, engineering, quality, and safety, to drive project success.
- Analyze data for root cause investigations and support continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing safety.
- Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate project findings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in sustainability, engineering, science, business, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Experience with systems thinking and process management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Awareness of current sustainability issues, trends, and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
