About the role#
The Metallurgy Intern will work in a laboratory environment to support materials testing and sample preparation. This role involves completing a specific project over the summer, which you will present at the end of the program. You will gain experience in a manufacturing setting while applying your academic knowledge to real-world technical requests.
What you'll do#
- Conduct materials testing and prepare samples, including metallography and the use of power saws.
- Run research and analytical equipment.
- Perform testing to meet industry standards for internal and external customers.
- Maintain a safe and organized workspace by following 5S lab protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Materials Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- A minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organization, planning, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with different priorities.
- Experience working independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- Previous hands-on laboratory experience is a plus.
