About the role#
The Supervised Practice Experience (SPE) Partnership is a program between the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), Ontario Health, and approved organizations like Southlake Health. This role is for internationally educated nurses who need to complete a supervised practice experience to demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and judgment to become registered with the CNO. You will work as a member of the healthcare team while following the policies and procedures of Southlake Health.
What you'll do#
- Provide patient and family focused care within the scope of practice.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and all members of the healthcare team.
- Contribute to the ongoing assessment and documentation of a patient's health status.
- Assist in the development and implementation of the Plan of Care.
- Practice collaboratively with the inter-professional team to provide care for patients with complex health issues.
- Clearly explain your capacity to patients and staff as a CNO applicant.
- Ensure all practice remains consistent with entry-to-practice competencies and standards.
What you'll need#
- Successful completion of a nursing education program.
- Recent experience practicing as a nurse.
- Successful completion of the registration examination approved by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Successful completion of the RN/RPN Jurisprudence Examination.
- Proficiency in either English or French.
- Legal authorization to engage in the practice of nursing in Ontario.
- Strong communication, problem assessment, and conflict resolution skills.

- Role Type: Full-time, student fixed-term.
- Work Modality: Hybrid and on-site.
- Compensation: $17.62 to $28.84 per hour.
