About the role#
This is an 8-month student position within the Abandonment team at Canadian Natural Resources Limited. You will work with an engineering and geology team to plan and carry out well abandonment activities. This role is based at the Calgary head office and follows a Monday to Friday schedule.
What you'll do#
- Support the operational team by performing geological log and data analysis.
- Conduct geological interpretation to help optimize projects.
- Perform well records reviews and lookback reviews.
- Provide ongoing support for operations and engineering tasks.
- Gain exposure to well operations, including drilling, completions, well servicing, and well abandonment.
- Use industry software such as WellView, Accumap, and Tableau.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of a geological degree program.
- A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or an equivalent license from another province.
- Ability to stay organized, collaborate with others, and manage competing priorities.

- Location: Calgary, Alberta.
- Term: 8 months, starting in January 2027.
- Work modality: On-site, full-time.
- This is a paid, safety-sensitive position. Legal authorization to work in Canada is required.
