About the role#
The Legal & Business Affairs department manages all contractual and transactional work for Sony Music Publishing’s Production Music division. As an intern, you will support the team in handling deal terms, synchronization licenses, and various clearance agreements. The role focuses on rights administration and asset management for music used in film, TV, and new media.
What you'll do#
- Review and analyze publishing, synchronization, sampling, confidentiality, and sub-publishing agreements.
- Advise the team on the status of accounts in the licensing queue and suggest necessary revisions.
- Draft form agreements to ensure complete chain of title documentation.
- Investigate and prepare memoranda for potential copyright infringement matters under the guidance of counsel.
- Maintain a project database for the registration of musical works with collective management organizations.
- Execute special projects as requested by management.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a JD program at an ABA accredited law school.
- Completion of at least one copyright law class.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment with minimal disruption.
- Interest in working with cross-functional teams.

- Compensation: This is a paid, full-time internship with an anticipated base hourly rate of $18. The final offer depends on factors such as education, skills, and experience.
