About the role#
The Mechanical Engineering Intern joins the Robotics New Product Development team in Pittsburgh. You will contribute to the development of next generation surgical robotics. This is a full-time, 12-week summer internship starting in May 2027.
What you'll do#
- Design components or subsystems for robotic systems.
- Execute engineering tests on prototypes.
- Conduct design reviews and document results.
- Complete specifically identified internship projects under manager guidance.
- Present your project conclusions to senior leadership.
- Create documentation that meets the requirements of the Robotics Quality Management System.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment or graduation within the last year in an undergraduate program for Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a similar field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
- Previous internship, part-time, or apprenticeship experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software, specifically Solidworks.
- Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management experience is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, including technical writing, listening, and speaking.
- Ability to assess technical issues and develop solutions using an analytical approach.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team.
