About the role#
Simpson Gumpertz & Heger is seeking a Technical Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This position is based in our Waltham, Massachusetts office. You will work alongside licensed professionals to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Assist with engineering investigations, analyses, and design of foundations and earth structures.
- Perform analysis of soil settlement, slope stability, and groundwater flow.
- Organize field data and assist with ongoing research.
- Complete analysis tasks using a mix of hand calculations and specialized software.
- Help prepare client deliverables, including construction documents and written reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering.
- A specific interest in geotechnical engineering.
- A record of high academic achievement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
