About the role#
Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) is seeking students for a 2027 internship in our Denver office. You will work alongside professionals to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. This position involves both office work and field activities, which may include working from heights and travel.
What you'll do#
- Assist with construction monitoring, field investigations, and condition assessments.
- Perform structural design, analysis, and project drafting under the guidance of licensed professionals.
- Analyze materials and support petrography staff.
- Develop test protocols, construct testing apparatus, and perform field tests.
- Assist with the preparation of construction documents, specifications, and reports.
- Organize field data and conduct research to support repair design and problem solving.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a civil engineering, structural engineering, materials science, or architecture program.
- Strong academic performance.
- Clear communication abilities.
- Interest in consulting engineering and hands-on work.
Location & details#
- Location: Denver, Colorado.
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment type: Full-time temporary.
- Compensation: Undergraduate students earn $29.25 to $32.50 per hour, graduate students earn $33.75 to $34.75 per hour, and PhD students earn $36.75 per hour.
- Bonus: A $1,000 sign-on bonus is provided.
