About the role#
Silgan Containers is hiring a Continuous Improvement and Inventory Control Intern for our Menomonie, Wisconsin plant. This is a paid, part-time, on-site position. You will gain experience in operational processes while working under the guidance of experienced professionals.
What you'll do#
- Identify and analyze opportunities for process improvements in operations and supply chain management.
- Develop and implement lean methodologies like waste reduction and process flow improvements.
- Track and report key performance indicators to measure project success.
- Organize training sessions and workshops to support team goals.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through physical counts and data reconciliation.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering processes.
- Analyze inventory turnover rates to help with forecasting and replenishment.
- Collect and summarize data related to operational efficiency for management reports.
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and warehouse teams to troubleshoot inventory discrepancies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with advanced skills preferred.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational habits.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies like Six Sigma or Kaizen is a plus.
- Experience with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle, knowledge of data visualization tools, and prior internship experience in manufacturing or logistics are also beneficial.
