About the role#
Shield AI is looking for a Data Science Intern to join our Finance team for the Summer 2027 term. You will assess data readiness and develop predictive forecasting capabilities for Anaplan. Working alongside Finance and engineering mentors, you will build and evaluate models to create an autonomous, continuously updated forecast. Your work will help provide the executive team with current and governed projections.
What you'll do#
- Assess financial and operational data to identify useful drivers and material gaps.
- Build baseline and machine-learning forecasts for specific Finance use cases.
- Evaluate model accuracy, stability, and explainability using backtesting.
- Prepare model outputs for Anaplan consumption and demonstrate an integration prototype.
- Recommend data, monitoring, and review practices to support reliable forecast updates.
- Present your findings and deliver documented, reproducible work to inform future development.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in data science, statistics, computer science, applied mathematics, economics, or a related field.
- Coursework or project experience with Python, SQL, statistics, and predictive modeling.
- Ability to assess data quality and communicate model assumptions and limitations.
- Experience with time-series forecasting, feature engineering, or model evaluation is preferred.
- Familiarity with Databricks, financial data, or enterprise planning is a plus.
- Strong curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
