About the role#
The mechanical engineering team builds and develops autonomous UAV products. As an intern, you will join this team to work on design projects, prototyping, and testing. This is a 10-week, full-time, paid internship program.
What you'll do#
- Own the requirements gathering, design, and validation of test stands for components and subsystems.
- Design tooling to hold devices-under-test during environmental testing.
- Create test stands and fixtures that interface with engines, electric motors, circuit boards, and other aeronautical components.
- Specify facility requirements for environmental test chambers.
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews and advocate for simpler testing processes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD student in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field.
- A strong grasp of fundamental engineering concepts across physics, mathematics, programming, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
- Experience with multidisciplinary hardware development projects.
- Proficiency with CAD tools like SolidWorks, NX, or CATIA.
- Ability to manufacture designs in a machine shop.
- Experience with internal combustion engines, including design, tuning, or assembly.
- Familiarity with designing mechanical tooling or test fixtures.
- Strong communication skills and a history of taking ownership of project outcomes.
