About the role#
The Electrical Engineering Co-op program offers hands-on experience in a hardware development environment. You will join the X-BAT Engineering team to work on autonomous aircraft. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2027 term starting in January. You will work on-site at one of our locations in Dallas, San Diego, or Boston.
What you'll do#
You will take ownership of a project tailored to your start date and location. Your work contributes directly to our aircraft development program. A senior engineer will act as your mentor to guide your technical and professional growth.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Designing circuit boards with analog, digital, mixed signal, or high-speed circuits.
- Designing, simulating, and verifying high voltage power electronics like DC/DC converters and DC/AC inverters.
- Bringing up and validating new Avionics systems.
- Identifying bugs and driving the necessary changes to fix them.
- Building test racks to provide automated test coverage for flight-critical sub-systems.
- Running HALT campaigns to ensure circuit board reliability.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least the second year of an Electrical Engineering degree.
- Strong technical fundamentals.
- Experience in an engineering team or club.
- Proficiency with electrical design software and tools such as Altium, KiCAD, and oscilloscopes.
- A history of taking ownership of projects and delivering results.
- A commitment to being a hardworking, trustworthy teammate who holds high standards.
- Ability to obtain a S/SAR level security clearance is desired.
