Technical Services Co-op Student

About the role#

As a Technical Services Co-op Student, you will gain hands-on experience in the electrical services industry. This role focuses on the maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of critical electrical systems, including work within data center environments. You will work on-site to ensure the reliability and efficiency of power systems ranging from 480V to 600kV.

What you'll do#

• Provide on-site technical assistance for electrical systems, including installations, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections, such as transformer and relay tests, to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues, including switchgear, circuit breaker, and relay calibration.
• Maintain professional client relationships by addressing inquiries and providing support, including responding to emergency calls.
• Document service activities, including generating reports, recording client feedback, and noting product modifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on improvement and innovation projects.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in an Electrical Engineering program or related field.
• Preference for an Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC).
• Proficiency with PC skills, including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Excel; experience with PowerDB is an asset.
• A strong commitment to working safely and adhering to all electrical safety procedures.
• Relevant experience in switchgear testing and troubleshooting is preferred.
• Preference for candidates with OSHA 30-hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, or CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training; training can be provided.

• Location: Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
• Work Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Full-time, rolling term.
• Travel: Must be able to drive daily for local or regional work and be available for periodic overnight travel.
