RESA Power is seeking a Field Tech Summer Student to support field operations and customer orders. Under the direction of field leadership, you will work on-site to troubleshoot, test, and maintain electrical equipment. This is a full-time, paid position for the Summer 2026 term. You may be required to work away from your home location for multiple days or weeks at a time and will work in the shop when not on field assignments.
What you'll do#
- Perform troubleshooting and electrical or fluid testing on equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and breakers.
- Maintain, redesign, rebuild, retrofit, and repair electrical equipment.
- Complete detailed test reports that meet company and customer standards.
- Communicate with management and team members to resolve problems and transfer information regarding active jobs.
- Build client relationships, prepare project estimates, and assist in identifying expanded work scopes.
- Inspect customer sites to identify issues and report findings to project management.
- Maintain a neat work area and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Diploma program (Technologist or Trades) with at least 1 year of experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of industry standards including NETA, IEEE, and NFPA, as well as general safety standards.
- Proven mechanical skills and experience with low and high voltage equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow technical directions and work orders.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and report creation.
- Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, crawl, climb, stand for long periods, and work in non-ideal conditions.
- A valid driver's license is required for positions that utilize a company vehicle.
