About the role#
As a Field Tech Summer Student, you will support field operations and customer orders under the direction of Field Leadership. This role involves working both in the shop and on customer sites, requiring the ability to travel away from your home location for multiple days or weeks at a time. This is a full-time, paid position for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Perform electrical and fluid testing and troubleshooting.
- Maintain, redesign, rebuild, retrofit, and repair electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, and breakers.
- Complete detailed test reports to meet company and customer standards.
- Communicate with management to resolve problems and transfer job information.
- Maintain client relationships, prepare project estimates, and assist in negotiating extra charges.
- Inspect customer sites to identify problems and report findings to sales and project management.
- Work cooperatively with team members to complete assignments and maintain a safe, orderly work area.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Diploma program (Technologist or Trades) in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of industry standards such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA, as well as general safety standards.
- Proven mechanical skills and experience with low and high voltage equipment.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to follow technical directions and work orders.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and report creation.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license if the role requires use of a company vehicle.
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for long periods, and working in non-ideal conditions.
