About the role#
This cooperative education position supports the Operations Planning team within the System Operations division. You will assist with technical studies, data collection, and compliance initiatives while gaining exposure to Control Center Operations and Resource Planning. This is a paid role based in Tampa, Florida.
What you'll do#
- Perform technical studies using power flow and production cost modeling applications.
- Collect data and prepare draft reports for routine operations.
- Support NERC compliance by collecting evidence and maintaining documentation in audit-ready form.
- Develop and maintain internal tools, templates, and reports.
- Draft corporate procedures and technical documents.
- Update system documentation, including transmission drawings, equipment diagrams, and operating manuals.
- Participate in cross-training with the Control Center and Resource Planning groups.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Electrical Engineering at an ABET accredited school.
- Junior class standing with at least one semester of specialization core classes completed.
- Minimum of six credit hours per semester and a 2.75 GPA.
- Understanding of power system principles and electric systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, technical writing, and basic programming languages.
- Strong math and analytical skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week.
- Requirements: Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle report. You must be able to wear personal protective equipment as required.
