About the role#
This cooperative education position supports the Business Technology department at Seminole Electric Cooperative. You will assist with information systems administration, network infrastructure, and security processes. The role involves hands-on technical work, including hardware and software support, scripting, and system monitoring. You will work approximately 20 hours per week in an office environment, with occasional travel to control centers or generating stations.
What you'll do#
- Provide day-to-day computer hardware and software support.
- Monitor control systems for reliable operation and identify cyber security vulnerabilities.
- Assist with software patching and script development.
- Support the Help Desk by resolving problem tickets.
- Collect daily data, logs, and alarms for NERC compliance reporting.
- Maintain evidence for audits and participate in project working groups.
- Create technical documentation and communicate project status to stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or Cyber Security.
- Minimum of six credit hours per semester and a 2.75 GPA.
- Understanding of Windows operating systems, cyber security principles, and computer networking.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and programming languages such as JAVA, C++, or PowerShell.
- Knowledge of basic IT asset management and electrical system principles.
- Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills.
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
