About the role#
This cooperative education position supports the team responsible for monitoring and reporting on NERC Reliability Standards. You will work on long-term compliance engineering projects that address reliability requirements for power plant, transmission, and system operations. This role involves communicating with subject matter experts and outside consultants to ensure the company meets FERC, NERC, and SERC standards.
What you'll do#
- Develop and improve compliance workflows and processes.
- Draft corporate procedures and technical documentation.
- Attend meetings with senior staff to identify potential non-compliance areas.
- Train staff in power plant, system operations, load forecasting, and transmission departments on reliability requirements.
- Assist with the evaluation, preparation, and testing of procedural documentation.
- Participate in internal audits, surveillances, and assessments.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in engineering, accounting, information technology, or a related field.
- An emphasis in auditing or corporate risk management is a plus.
- Must be enrolled in at least six credit hours per semester.
- A minimum GPA of 2.75.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on detail.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Tampa, Florida.
- Work is on-site.
- This is a paid position.
- You will work approximately 20 hours per week.
- You must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle report.
- Some travel and work outside of normal business hours may be required.
- You must be able to follow safety protocols and wear personal protective equipment when working in industrial environments.
