About the role#
This cooperative education position supports the Engineering & Maintenance team in Tampa. You will assist with planning studies and engineering assignments that require a basic grasp of engineering fundamentals. The role involves cross-training between the Transmission & Project Services and Engineering & Maintenance groups to support departmental goals and NERC compliance activities.
What you'll do#
- Assist with transmission planning studies and technical activities.
- Support NERC compliance by conducting studies, collecting evidence, and coordinating documentation.
- Help develop compliance workflows and draft technical documents or corporate procedures.
- Update system documentation such as transmission diagrams, equipment data, and operating manuals.
- Work on specific project initiatives to support the team.
- Maintain NERC compliance records in audit-ready form.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Post Graduate degree program in electrical engineering or an equivalent electrical program.
- Junior class standing with at least one semester of specialization core classes completed.
- Minimum of six credit hours per semester and a 2.75 GPA.
- Ability to work for at least two semesters before graduation.
- Understanding of power system principles or electric systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software.
- Skill in reading technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong technical writing abilities.
- A valid driver license and an acceptable motor vehicle report.
