About the role#
American Electric Power offers a 10 to 12-week paid summer internship program for students interested in the electric utility sector. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to projects while learning from industry leaders. You will gain exposure to the organization, departmental functions, and group interrelationships while developing your professional skills.
What you'll do#
- Perform studies, projects, and assignments of general scope or specifically assigned duties.
- Collaborate with project teams on planning, designing, and executing enterprise resource projects.
- Assist in the preparation, analysis, and interpretation of statistical reports and information.
- Conduct special investigations and prepare graphic or interpretative illustrations.
- Maintain departmental records and prepare statements regarding operating activities.
- Support documentation for decision-making processes and operational initiatives.
- Embrace the safety culture by understanding guidelines and standards for both office and field environments.
- Work with department personnel to assist in the performance of their assignments.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering (ABET accredited), Data Science, or Business Administration with a focus on Supply Chain Management.
- Must have completed at least your freshman year.
- Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective time management skills.
- Interest in the electric utility sector, energy efficiency, and sustainability practices.
- Willingness and ability to relocate for the summer if necessary.
