About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to build a foundation for your career in electrical design. You will work on-site in Roanoke, Virginia, using computer-aided drafting software to manage 3D inventory parts, assemblies, and 2D electrical drawings. This is a paid, full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Create, revise, and maintain engineering and record drawings and sketches.
- Support the maintenance of facilities and equipment documentation, including construction and property records.
- Gather project information from field notes, vendor catalogs, technical manuals, site visits, and verbal communication.
- Perform mathematical calculations to complete assigned tasks.
- Use software including AutoCAD Electrical, Civil3D, Inventor, and Vault.
- Utilize Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting.
- Read and incorporate information from vendor prints, shop drawings, and equipment operating instructions.
- Uphold ethical standards as outlined in company policies.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year toward an associate degree in drafting, CAD, or a related field like civil, structural, electrical, or mechanical engineering technology.
- A graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Familiarity with conventional drafting symbols and methods.
- Ability to distinguish colors.
