About the role#
This is a full-time internship opportunity based in Calgary, Alberta. The position is designed to provide hands-on experience in the software development lifecycle, ranging from coding and debugging to quality assurance and DevOps support. You will work alongside software developers and business stakeholders to deliver critical business applications. This role is scheduled for the Summer 2027 term, with potential for extension based on academic and business requirements.
What you'll do#
- Assist in identifying software issues through testing and debugging to ensure high standards of functionality.
- Collaborate with the QA team to execute test cases, document findings, and improve software quality.
- Support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of development and deployment environments.
- Assist in automation and monitoring tasks to improve the efficiency and reliability of deployment pipelines.
- Participate in code reviews and follow best practices for code quality and readability.
- Develop, execute, and maintain test scripts for various software applications.
- Support the team with entry-level development tasks, including frontend and backend coding and bug fixes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited post-secondary program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Participation in an official internship program.
- Foundational knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada.
- Willingness to complete a medical and/or alcohol and drug test if the role is considered safety-sensitive.
- Exposure to Node.js, full-stack development, Jest, Playwright, and database management is beneficial.
- An understanding of software development best practices and debugging is helpful.
- A basic understanding of the Canadian Energy Industry is an asset.
