About the role#
As a Quality Control Chemist student, you will gain hands-on laboratory experience while supporting the quality and consistency of chemical products and services. You will work alongside our laboratory and operations teams to assist with quality control and quality assurance activities. This position allows you to apply your academic knowledge in a practical laboratory environment while developing your technical and analytical skills.
What you'll do#
- Perform laboratory testing on blend and bulk samples.
- Support chemical sampling, including the preparation, collection, filling, and labelling of sample requests.
- Enter and maintain QC laboratory testing results with high accuracy.
- Complete filing and documentation for routine and non-routine laboratory work.
- Work closely with Chemists and Operations to support laboratory and business requirements.
- Assist with maintaining laboratory chemicals, inventory, and supplies.
- Support the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Assist with the preparation and testing of laboratory methodologies.
- Participate in routine and non-routine project work.
- Follow safety procedures and laboratory standards to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related post-secondary program.
- Strong commitment to safety and the ability to follow laboratory procedures and standards.
- Knowledge of or exposure to analytical laboratory equipment.
- Strong verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of assigned tasks.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Reliable transportation to the Blending Plant.
