About the role#
The Student/Casual Food Store Clerk I supports the daily operations of the Gravelbourg Food Store. This position involves direct customer interaction, merchandise management, and assisting in the preparation of fresh food products. This is a paid, on-site role with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Provide customer service by assisting shoppers, answering questions, and operating the Point of Sale system.
- Pack customer purchases and ensure efficient service.
- Stock merchandise and maintain inventory through receiving, counting, and sorting as directed.
- Perform housekeeping duties, including cleaning and facing shelves.
- Support the meat department by preparing, traying, wrapping, and pricing products, as well as maintaining display cases.
- Assist in the preparation of in-store bakery items and meat products like sausage and hamburger.
- Operate and maintain equipment safely while adhering to sanitation and safety policies.
What you'll need#
- Experience in the procurement of merchandise.
- Excellent customer service skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to solve problems as they arise.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, climbing, and kneeling.
- Availability to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training.
- Relevant academic background in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, Agriculture, or Criminal Justice is preferred.
