About the role#
As an Electrical Engineering Intern in our Nuclear Power Group, you will support projects that modernize electrical systems for nuclear power plants. This includes work on existing facilities, small modular reactors, and advanced reactor projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers to help make nuclear energy more reliable and efficient. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Assist in preparing engineering calculations for nuclear power generating stations, including protection and coordination studies, cable sizing, and voltage system design.
- Use software tools like ETAP to perform power systems analysis and modeling for complex electrical networks.
- Assist with the design, selection, and integration of major electrical power equipment such as switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, and breakers.
- Collaborate with designers and drafters to translate engineering concepts into detailed drawings.
- Participate in a multidisciplinary mock engineering project based on real-world examples to solve complex design challenges.
- Use data and modern tools, including automation or scripting, to improve engineering workflows and design documentation.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science degree program in Electrical Engineering.
- A strong academic background and relevant coursework.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
