About the role#
This six-month co-op position offers an opportunity to work within a medicinal chemistry department. You will gain hands-on experience in drug discovery while working alongside experienced mentors. The role focuses on synthetic organic chemistry and the practical application of laboratory techniques to support ongoing research projects.
What you'll do#
- Synthesize small molecule targets for drug discovery programs using reaction and reagent databases.
- Apply purification and characterization techniques to target compounds and intermediates.
- Use analytical tools such as NMR and LCMS to interpret data and characterize structures.
- Register compounds in the corporate database and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks.
- Collaborate with team members to design compounds that address specific project challenges.
- Follow all safety and compliance guidelines while working in the laboratory.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date in 2027 or 2028.
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for future visa sponsorship.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week on-site for the full duration of the program.
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university throughout the co-op.
- Experience with synthetic organic chemistry, silica gel chromatography, and analytical instrumentation is preferred.
