About the role#
We are seeking an engineering intern for our Solid Waste team in Burlington, Vermont for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside staff engineers and scientists to support landfill and solid waste projects. This position provides an opportunity to gain professional experience through real project assignments and technical training.
What you'll do#
- Learn the day-to-day responsibilities of a professional engineer.
- Apply your academic knowledge to hands-on project work.
- Assist in preparing permit applications.
- Review, interpret, and report on compliance data.
- Conduct field work including landfill gas monitoring, environmental sampling, and construction QA/QC oversight.
- Help design and evaluate landfill infrastructure systems.
- Attend project meetings to learn how consulting projects are managed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering, or a related discipline.
- A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.
- Strong attention to detail and technical understanding.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- A willingness to learn new skills.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is desirable.

- Location: Burlington, Vermont.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend work and travel may be required.
- Format: On-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
