About the role#
We are looking for an aspiring engineer to join our Solid Waste team for the Summer 2027 term. You will work alongside staff engineers and scientists on a variety of landfill and solid waste projects. This position offers a chance to apply your academic knowledge to real-world consulting projects while receiving mentorship from senior staff.
What you'll do#
- Learn the day-to-day responsibilities of a professional engineer.
- Apply your academic background to hands-on project work.
- Help prepare permit applications and review compliance data.
- Support field operations including landfill gas monitoring, environmental sampling, and construction QA/QC oversight.
- Assist with the design and evaluation of landfill infrastructure systems.
- Participate in project meetings to understand how consulting work is managed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or a recent degree from a Bachelor's or Master's program in civil, geotechnical, or environmental engineering (or a related discipline).
- Strong attention to detail, technical understanding, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn new skills and a flexible schedule.
- Proficiency with standard computer software, with AutoCAD skills considered a plus.
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as working in various outdoor weather conditions.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
- Positions are available in our Bedford, New Hampshire, and Burlington, Vermont offices.
- Travel to project locations is required.
- This is a paid position.
