    About the role#

    Sanborn, Head & Associates, Inc. is hiring an Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time, on-site role is based in Burlington, Vermont. You will work alongside staff engineers and scientists on projects within our Development Client Service Area, which supports real estate and infrastructure development from initial due diligence through construction.

    What you'll do#

    • Learn the day-to-day responsibilities of a professional engineer.
    • Apply your academic knowledge to hands-on project work.
    • Assist in the preparation of technical reports and regulatory compliance documents.
    • Support field assessments, including groundwater and soil sampling, drilling oversight, and construction monitoring.
    • Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental and geotechnical data.
    • Participate in project meetings to understand how consulting projects are managed.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in or a recent degree from a Bachelor's or Master's program in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering (or a related discipline).
    • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.
    • Ability to travel to project locations as needed.
    • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and clear communication abilities.
    • Technical understanding and a working knowledge of industry-specific software.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
    • A flexible schedule and a willingness to learn new skills.
