About the role#
Sanborn, Head & Associates, Inc. is hiring an Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This position supports our Development Client Service Area, which manages real estate and infrastructure projects from due diligence through construction. You will work alongside staff engineers and scientists on projects that require both office and field work. This is a full-time, paid position.
What you'll do#
- Learn the day-to-day responsibilities of a professional engineer.
- Apply your academic knowledge to hands-on project work.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and regulatory compliance activities.
- Support field assessments, including groundwater and soil sampling, drilling oversight, and construction monitoring.
- Help with the collection, analysis, and interpretation of environmental and geotechnical data.
- Attend project meetings to learn how consulting projects are managed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or a recent degree from a Bachelor's or Master's program in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering.
- A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and an acceptable driving record.
- Strong attention to detail and a technical understanding of engineering concepts.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A willingness to learn new skills.
Location & details#
- This internship is based on-site at one of our offices in Bedford, NH; Burlington, VT; Boston, MA; or Philadelphia, PA.
- The role is full-time for Summer 2027.
- Physical requirements include the ability to visit project sites, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds. You may work in various weather conditions and will need to wear personal protective equipment as required.
