About the role#
Ryan Companies US, Inc. is hiring a Project Engineer Intern for a full-time position during the summer of 2025. This role is based on-site in Des Moines, Iowa. You will work 40 hours per week from May through August.
What you'll do#
- Assist the project team with daily operations while learning industry processes and company policies.
- Build a working knowledge of budgets, cost accounting, invoices, contracts, and change orders.
- Gain experience in job-site coordination, scheduling, quality control, and safety procedures.
- Use mathematical skills to perform calculations and review architectural or engineering drawings.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a bachelor or advanced degree program in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- At least one summer of prior construction work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and understand contracts and specifications.
- General knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control methods.
