Project Engineer Intern

About the role#

Ryan Companies US, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer Intern for a full-time summer internship based in Des Moines, Iowa. This position offers an opportunity to gain practical experience in the construction industry while assisting project teams with daily operations, business policies, and site management.

What you'll do#

• Support the project team in completing designated projects while learning industry-standard processes and company procedures.
• Develop a functional understanding of financial and administrative tasks including budgets, cost accounting, invoices, contracts, and change orders.
• Gain hands-on exposure to job-site coordination, scheduling, quality control, and safety protocols.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or advanced degree program in Construction Engineering, Management, or a closely related field.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• At least one summer of construction work experience.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and read architectural or engineering drawings, contracts, and specifications.
• General knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control methods.

• Work Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $20–$25 per hour.
