    About the role#

    As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern at our Wallops Island, Virginia site, you will support developing processes for the Neutron Launch Vehicle. You will identify and design the equipment needed for the receipt, final integration, and launch of the vehicle. You will work directly with the Neutron Vehicle Integration Engineer and other team members to solve real engineering challenges.

    What you'll do#

    • Apply your academic knowledge to real-world engineering tasks.
    • Collaborate with your mentor and other employees to grow your technical skills.
    • Attend 1:1 meetings with supervisors to share progress updates and receive feedback.
    • Participate in tech talks and connect with other interns and staff through various events.
    • Lead development projects independently.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in engineering, physics, or mathematics.
    • At least one semester of school remaining after the internship concludes.
    • A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
    • At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal projects.
    • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and work well within small, high-performing teams.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across different teams.

    We prefer candidates with the following qualifications:

    • A GPA of 3.5 or above.
    • 6 or more months of applied engineering experience.
    • Basic coding proficiency in Python, SQL, or automation scripting.
    • Experience with Solid Modelling and CAD/CAM software.
    • A strong interest in driving process improvement opportunities.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Wallops Island, Virginia.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (12 consecutive weeks beginning January, February, or March 2027).
    • Modality: Full-time, on-site.
    • Compensation: $25.00 USD hourly.
    • Relocation: A stipend may be available to subsidize relocation costs.
    • Sponsorship: This role does not offer sponsorship.
